I would like to thank you all for coming along on the JOTT journey with me for the last 26 years, it has been my pleasure to connect with the Scouting family all around the world because of this event that started by accident and continued thanks to the wonderful volunteers all around the world who ran, organized and participated in this event.
I would be remiss to not single out Mark Merryweather who came on board to design the badges many years ago which improved the badge significantly.
I would like to thank the country contacts, the originals and the replacements who stepped up over the years to help me spread the word and make this event a fantastic success.
I am also very grateful to the participants who did hikes and sent pictures that made us all proud to be involved.
It is time I retired and put this event to rest and so I encourage you to join us on the trail one final time on May 13th 2023 and let’s go out with a bang
See you on the Trail,
David Wiebe
JOTT Hike Chief
What is JOTT?
Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can. Cubs and younger Scouting sections could visit a local nature trail as part of a weekend camp. A Scout Troop might check out a hiking trail while working on badge requirements. A Rover Crew might make a Service Project out of restoring or maintaining a hiking trail.
In their own way, everyone will be hiking the same direction: towards a better future through Scouting. JOTT is held on the second Saturday of May each year.
